The project reconstructs the medieval mikveh of Cologne (Köln), Germany, one of the oldest known in Europe. Through the integration of architectural data, historical sources, sound, movement, and environmental elements, Bodner and her team have created an interactive 3D model, accessible via desktop and VR.
Significant progress has been made in the project and the project was recently featured in Haaretz (Read the article here).

Starting with photogrammetry, the reconstruction adds layers such as a measurement tool, dynamic light, and movement, to simulate human experience within the space. The resulting "digital twin" enables immersive exploration, including variable sound from a musical project by Avery Gosfield, lighting, and water levels. We invite you to interact with the simulation yourself, to go back in time and enter the mikveh of Cologne.
