This year, the upcoming Sukkot holiday will be bookended by a somber anniversary. The first day of Sukkot falls on October 7th, marking exactly two years since the day our world was turned upside down. The final day, Simchat Torah, will now forever be associated with that fateful date in the Hebrew calendar.
Please note that out of respect for the Simchat Torah festival, the official national memorial day for those lost on October 7th is observed annually (both in Israel and overseas) on the 24th of Tishrei, two days after Simchat Torah. This year, the national memorial day will be observed on October 16th.
From the very first day of the crisis, we mobilized to stand with the people of Israel; opening channels for emergency aid, supporting residents of devastated communities, and helping them begin to rebuild.
As we mark this moment, we look ahead—together—to build a future in which Israel’s north and south not only survive, not only thrive, but lead the way in shaping a stronger, better Israel for the sake of us all.
